Dr. Bennion was born and raised in Casper, Wyoming. Dr. graduated summa cum laude from the Universiety of Wyoming. He received his medical degree from the University of Wyoming and his doctorate at the University of Utah. After completing an internal medicine residency at the University of Rutgers, he finished a second residency in dermatology at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Denver Colorado.

Dr. Scott Bennion founded Central Wyoming Skin Clinic & Medical Skin Care 1998 to bring a new level of patient care to dermatology. As both internist and dermatologist, Dr. Bennion has treated patients at such prestigious medical centers as the University of Rutgers, the University of Colorado Health Science Center, and Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center. Dr. Bennion was determined to bring that same level of care to dermatology patients in a private practice. Central Wyoming Skin Clinic and Medical Skin Care offers a unique combination of breadth, experience, and research activity usually found only in university health centers.

He holds two academic positions: Associate Professor of Dermatology, at the University of Colorado Health Science Center and Associate Professor of Medicine, at the University of Washington Medical Center. Dr. Bennion is the author of many journal articles and dermatology book chapters.
